That said, I've compared some Reamp amp models to plugins that focus on only 1 amp in great detail, and while Reamp sometimes beats those, other times, I've found that I'd much rather use the other amp sim (for example the Diezel VH4 amp sim by brainworx is certainly nicer & easier to mix with, even though the Reamp version is still very nice). Never had an amp sim react like that before. When I combined the clean Archeon channel with Audio Assault's Headcrusher saturator (I don't know how it compares to other saturators), I was able to get really clean sounds when coil-splitting my humbuckers, and then edge-of-breakup/lightly overdriven sounds with a heavier attack (or a lighter attack with my humbuckers engaged), to full-on strong overdrive with a heavy attack & my humbuckers. Although, unfortunately, 2 of my favorite amp models the Bassman & PRS Archeon clean channel (the high gain channel is still included) have been taken out - but they will be included in a pack for people who preordered as a "thank you"). I've found that, while some of the amp models are "so-so", when I use the right IRs along with EQing, that it actually stands neck & neck to the best of the best out there (a lot of that, I've found, is because it's very reactive to differences in attack, kind of like a real amp. I've used Reamp Studio since it was in the prerelease "preview" versions, so I've spent a lot of time with it. Every amp has the same gain/tone stack/presence/depth/volume controls, but if you're good at tweaking & have a good selection of IRs, you can get a lot out of it (it comes with a good selection of IRs, but it helps to have your own selection to find the right combos). It lacks the individual details of the various amps - for instance, no bright switches or such. This is basically in the territory for me where, if I could only choose 1 amp sim, I'd go with Reamp Studio because of the range it covers, and what it's capable of. The only one that I've noticed is that, for some reason, the tremolo speed doesn't save its status when I save my session (thinking about it now - I should try to save it as a preset - in this case, I'm using it on a mix bus in Reaper with the amp & cab section disabled). There were some bugs that were introduced with various versions of the beta, but they seem to be ironed out now. Some of the amp models (they're individual channels more than full amps) are so-so, but others are fantastic. I will say that it's not perfect, but if you use the right IRs & EQ it well, you can get some incredible results. u/TDMZebra is right, I will be happy to convince you that it's worth the price (although, whether it's actually worth the price for you is a very subjective thing)! I think this is definitely a step up on their behalf.Įdit: And the number of presets seems limited as well if I remember correctly (again, not really an issue as I generally ignore them anyway what works with the gear that whoever created the presets may not work as well with someone else's setup). However I have to say the sounds are nice and it doesn't seem buggy (it has been in beta for a long time after all the pan in the IR section doesn't seem to work in my DAW, but I generally use an external IR loader anyway). It's more like a GM2 with some more features and a boat load of amps. ![]() I felt as well that they may be in over their heads with this one, and it's a bit in no-man's land: It's not something little like GM of GM2, but it's not something full/flexible like Helix Native. In the meantime there's my earlier post here about some things to consider. ![]() I'm sure u/Capncorky will be happy to convince you that it's worth it's price ) Official r/WeAreTheMusicMakers Discord for music discussion: Official r/AudioProductionDeals Discord for plugin and sales discussion: Great music production subreddits to follow: More information on this can be found here Many of the links here are affiliate links which we make a commission on to help support the continuation of this subreddit.
